321 Stainless Steel offers benefits over common 304 Stainless Steel. 321 is made with the alloying element Titanium. This increases the material cost significantly, but for a turbocharged application, offers advantages over 304. 321 offers Increased Strength and Toughness at elevated temperatures, making it less likely to fatigue and crack. 321 was developed by the aircraft industry specifically to address longevity issues with pressurized turbocharged manifolds; addressing cracking from lower quality grades of stainless steel like 304. 321 Stainless Steel conducts less heat that 304 Stainless Steel. This means a 321 header will deliver more thermal energy to the turbocharger, improving Responsiveness and Efficiency.

Swain Tech Advanced Coating Technology Exhaust

Swain Tech's White Lightningâ„¢ ceramic thermal barrier for exhaust parts is the only true insulating coating available. There is typically 35-55% less heat radiating from a Swain Tech Coated Header. The coating is permanently bonded to the part.

Other companies apply header coatings that have minimal effects on heat insulation and instead are purely for cosmetics. These header coatings are shiny or colored and will really not improve performance, although they do look nice. Swain Tech Coatings is the only company to offer a true insulating thermal barrier for exhaust parts. This external thermal barrier is applied approximately .012"³ thick, has a white matte finish and does a tremendous job of keeping the heat inside of the pipes to improve scavenging and reduce under hood temperatures.
