GCG Turbochargers Australia formed in 1979 for the express purpose of sales and service of turbochargers, direct to the Australian aftermarket.
The "GCG GTS-T Highflow" has been the industry leader in the bolt-on high flow market for over 10 years, and is still the ONLY Ball Bearing, 100% bolt on turbocharger. If you're looking for a turbocharger that looks identical to the factory supplied unit, but is capable of up to 290rwkw with supporting modifications, then you're on the right page! These high flow units have been perfected over the years, with further development, and are now at a stage where boost response is nearly identical to the factory turbocharger. No matter how badly damaged your original unit is, this modification can still be done, as long as the end housings are re-usable.
Turn-around time is 3-4 days.
A larger Garrett steel turbine wheel is used in the upgrade, removing the factory ceramic boost-limited turbine wheel, which we often find is missing when factory units are sent in.
A larger Garrett compressor wheel is used, eliminating the standard plastic compressor wheel, allowing for a huge increase in flow, and boost threshold.
NOTE - This is an upgrade performed on YOUR turbocharger, so once you've placed the order, you will need to send your original turbocharger to us.
Upgrade Process:
- Your supplied turbocharger is stripped, cleaned, dipped and sandblasted.
- All neccessary machining and preparation is made in order to build the CHRA.
- The new Garrett steel turbine wheel and Garrett cast compressor wheel are statically balanced.
- The CHRA is assembled, using all new upgraded parts.
- The CHRA is VSR balanced.
- The end housings are machined to suit the larger compressor and turbine wheel.
- The actuator is tested.
- The turbocharger is completely assembled, with replacement studs/nuts if required.
- The turbocharger is returned, with a full gasket kit included, and a tube of Liqui Moly Turbo Lube.
Performance:
- The boost response on these units is near identical to the factory response.
- Boost pressure potential is now increased to 25psi+ (upgraded actuator recommended if this is the desired boost pressure).
- 240rwkw - 290rwkw on 18-25psi on numerous RB25DET applications (with supporting modifications).
- 270-300rwkw on a few extreme cases, where upgraded camshafts, FMIC, aftermarket ECU, E85 fuel and other supporting modifications are used.
- RB20DET application range between 200rwkw - 220rwkw, with 230-250rwkw with the same high end supporting modifications as above.
