The BNM Performance Fab External Wastegate (EWG) Up-Pipe Kit is designed for builders who want more than basic boost control. By removing the internal wastegate and actuator, this kit unlocks the benefits of a freer-flowing external setup giving you sharper control, more stable boost levels, and a setup that’s ready for serious tuning.

Of course, there’s also the sound. That raw, unmistakable screamer pipe tone isn’t for everyone, but for those who want it, this kit delivers.

Switching to an external wastegate allows exhaust gases to bypass the turbocharger more efficiently. This helps eliminate boost creep and spike issues commonly seen when the internal wastegate port on the turbine housing becomes a bottleneck under load.

Fitment & Installation Notes

This EWG kit has been locally test-fitted on RHD Subaru models with both 5-speed and 6-speed manual transmissions, using Invidia down-pipes. For best results, BNM recommends the Turbosmart WG40 Comp-Gate due to its compact size. While the GFB EX38 may be used, it is not recommended on 6-speed transmissions due to space limitations with the larger gearbox casing.

Please review the following compatibility notes before purchase:

• Not compatible with early 6-speed transmissions that have a Vehicle Speed Sensor located on the driver’s side of the gearbox.
• Not designed for use with OEM down-pipes. Fitment was confirmed using Invidia down-pipes. Other aftermarket down-pipes with lower-mounted catalytic converters may be suitable but have not been confirmed.
• Wastegate is NOT included.
• Installation hardware (gaskets, nuts, bolts) is NOT included. OEM hardware may be reused if in good condition, but it is strongly recommended to install with new fasteners and gaskets.
• If using a stock-location turbo with an internal wastegate, an internal wastegate lockout is required and is NOT included.

This kit includes a screamer pipe which vents the wastegate to atmosphere. This is illegal for road registered vehicles due to volume and emissions as it bypasses the catalytic converter. For those wishing to run this kit on street vehicles there will be custom fabrication required to plumb this into the down-pipe. For track vehicles please check the noise limits at your local track as screamer pipes are LOUD.
