The N1 block is Nissan's reinforced version of the legendary RB26DETT cylinder block, originally developed for motorsport and endurance racing applications. Easily identified by its distinctive "24U" casting mark, the N1 block was engineered to withstand the increased cylinder pressures, sustained high engine speeds, and elevated temperatures encountered in competition. Compared with the standard "05U" RB26 block, the N1 features stronger castings and reinforced structural areas, making it one of the most desirable foundations for high-performance and high-horsepower RB26 engine builds.

  • Machining & Assembly: Tomei Japan outsources its specialized machining (such as boring and plateau honing) to veteran Japanese shops like Diamond Engineering. Tomei USA performs its assembly and precision machining using specialized jigs at their Lake Forest, California, or Zama, Japan, facilities.
  • Exclusivity & Provenance: Tomei Japan’s complete Genesis crate engines and blocks are highly sought-after due to limited availability and rigorous hand-assembly. Tomei USA blocks, while highly capable, have experienced brand splintering, and part numbers generally start with a "T" to differentiate them from the Japanese catalogue.
