KOYORAD Five-Series Overview

KOYORAD offers multiple radiator series designed for different performance requirements, engine bay layouts, and cooling demands. From traditional high-capacity designs to modern high-density systems, each series targets a specific balance of coolant volume, airflow efficiency, and packaging.

R-Series — 53 mm Core

The R-Series is KOYORAD’s original heavy-capacity performance radiator design.

Key features:

  • Thick 53 mm aluminium core
  • Increased coolant capacity
  • Designed for platforms with available engine bay space
  • Focuses on maximum cooling volume

The R-Series remains available for applications where a larger radiator core is the ideal solution, especially on older performance platforms. However, many newer applications have moved toward the more compact and efficient V-Core designs.

V-Core Series — 36 mm Core

The V-Core Series represents KOYORAD’s modern performance radiator platform.

Unlike the thicker R-Series, V-Core achieves strong cooling performance through improved core efficiency rather than simply increasing size.

Features:

  • 36 mm core thickness
  • Higher fin and tube density
  • Reduced weight compared with thicker designs
  • Improved airflow through the engine bay
  • Better packaging flexibility

The V-Core is the preferred choice for many modern performance builds where space, airflow, and efficiency are important.

Hyper V-Core Series — 36 mm Core

The Hyper V-Core is the premium evolution of the V-Core design.

It maintains the same 36 mm core thickness but increases cooling ability through a more aggressive fin and tube layout.

Benefits:

  • Higher surface area within the same footprint
  • Increased heat transfer efficiency
  • Ideal for modern vehicles with limited engine bay space
  • Designed for applications where larger radiators cannot fit

Hyper V-Core provides race-level cooling performance without requiring a physically larger radiator.

HH Series — 48 mm Core

The HH Series is designed for high-performance applications where engine bay space allows a larger radiator package.

Features:

  • 48 mm core thickness
  • High-density fin design
  • Hand-assembled construction
  • Motorsport-focused cooling capability

The HH Series is commonly suited to platforms such as the Nissan Skyline GT-R R32, where space is available for a larger, heavy-duty cooling system.

N-Flo Technology — Dual / Triple Pass Cooling

N-Flo is not a separate radiator series but a KOYORAD cooling technology applied to compatible V-Core and HH designs.

Using internal partitions, N-Flo changes coolant flow direction through the radiator, forcing coolant through a longer path before exiting.

Advantages:

  • Increased coolant dwell time
  • Improved heat transfer
  • Higher thermal efficiency
  • Available in dual-pass or triple-pass configurations depending on application

Choosing the Right KOYORAD Series

R-Series: Maximum coolant capacity for older or spacious engine bays.
V-Core: Modern all-round performance choice with excellent packaging.
Hyper V-Core: Maximum efficiency where space is limited.
HH Series: Motorsport-style cooling for larger engine bay applications.
N-Flo: Advanced coolant routing technology for improved thermal control.

How to Pick the Right KOYORAD Series for Your Car

Choosing the correct KOYORAD radiator depends on the vehicle platform, engine bay space, and how the car is used. The goal is to match cooling capacity with real requirements rather than simply choosing the largest radiator available.

Modern Car (2008+) — Tight Engine Bay, Daily or Street/Track Use

Recommended: Hyper V-Core
Alternative: Standard V-Core

Modern engine bays often have limited space, so the Hyper V-Core’s high-density design provides excellent cooling performance without requiring a larger radiator.

  • Choose Hyper V-Core when available
  • Choose V-Core when Hyper V-Core is not offered

Modern Car With N-Flo Availability

Recommended: N-Flo Version

If KOYORAD offers an N-Flo configuration for your vehicle, it is usually the strongest cooling upgrade option.

Benefits:

  • Improved coolant flow path
  • Longer coolant exposure through the core
  • Increased heat transfer efficiency

For many applications, N-Flo provides the biggest performance improvement within the KOYORAD range.

Older JDM Platform (1990s–2000s) With High Cooling Demands

Recommended: HH Series
Alternative: R-Series

Older performance platforms often have more engine bay space, allowing larger radiator designs.

  • HH Series: Motorsport-focused cooling with high-density core design
  • R-Series: Large-capacity cooling solution with increased coolant volume

Older JDM Platform With Moderate Cooling Needs

Recommended: V-Core or R-Series

For stock or lightly modified builds:

  • Choose V-Core for modern efficiency and packaging
  • Choose R-Series where maximum coolant volume is preferred

The best option depends on what KOYORAD produces for the specific vehicle.

Dedicated Motorsport / Circuit Car

Recommended: Maximum-capacity KOYORAD option available

Track use creates continuous high-temperature conditions, making maximum cooling capacity the priority.

Ideal setup:

  • Thickest suitable radiator core
  • N-Flo technology where available
  • Performance-focused design over street packaging considerations

If there is still uncertainty, the best approach is to match the radiator to the vehicle’s actual use, engine output, and available space. The correct KOYORAD series will provide better results than simply choosing the biggest unit.
